Miguel Valenzuela is a longtime El Paso resident whose art depicts the people and stories of the border region.  Valenzuela re- ceived a BFA with a major in sculpture and a minor in painting from the University of Texas at El Paso.  He earned an MFA from New Mexico State University with a major in painting and a minor in graphic design.  While at NMSU, he received several grants to research the border region, creating several bodies of work about immigrants of the region and the challenges they face. Valenzuela teaches at El Paso Community College and volunteers his time with the Boys and Girls Club, local schools, and nonprofits.
